Madeleine Albright came to Yale Divinity School and spoke on the topic "The Mighty and the Almighty: United States Foreign Policy and God." John E. Hare focuses on one part of what she said. She quoted from Vice President Cheney’s Christmas greeting card, which bore the inscription, "If a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid?"
